Received a call from the chiropody team at Newmains health centre to say there was cancellation and my son could be seen sooner if we took it. We did and saw the chiropodist/nurse in October. My son has an Ingrowing toenail that was infected, while there , my son, who has OCD/anxiety, took a panic attack. I just want to thank the two female members of staff on how they delt with my son.  Their empathy, skill and patience was amazing, they managed to talk my son out of his attack, which no HCP has managed to do. 

I only wished I had recorded the exchange to show mental health professions on how to deal with patients with anxiety.

The chiropodist and nurse are a credit to NHS Lanarkshire and their patients are very fortunate to be treated by them.

Many of our patients who present for nail surgery can be very anxious and our staff try to put the patient at ease by explaining fully the procedure and what to expect. Clearly with your son and his anxiety levels I am really pleased that my staff were able to manage the situation and carry out the much required intervention as an in-grown toe nail is a very painful condition that needs to be resolved.

I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to contact us and I will certainly pass on your very kind thoughts and comments. It is always good to hear from patients and relatives who are happy with the service that we provide and I am sure that these comments will be greatly appreciated by the staff members who provided the care to your son.
