"MRI Heart Scan Thursday 1st November 2018"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I am very Claustraphobic and in the past had a very bad experience at North Tyneside Hospital. Today I was at Wansbeck for a Heart scan where dye was injected than a drug to stress the heart. All of the staff were excellent. They explained and did not make you feel you were stupid. They had sympathy and empathy. They showed me the scan and how much bigger it would to the last one I was in. Explained what they would be asking and doing. I have had 3 heart attacks in the past and have a stent in the main artery. I also have Psoriatic Arthritis and spondolitis of the spine. being flat on my back is a nono, but they made me comfortable and proceeded. They asked regularly if I was ok. The Dr was lovely to and explained about the drug Regadenoson. An excellent team. The receptionist was kind and the cup of tea was delicious. Thank you.

Dear Boyd,

Many thanks for taking the time to share this with us. Your story is an important reminder to us all about how frightening medical assessments and investigations can feel at times ? I’m so pleased that the team caring for you really understood that, and gave you everything that you needed from them on the day. You’ve had a very complex medical history, I’m not at all surprised that you’d feel anxious in a hospital setting. Kind, consistent and helpful information that keeps you informed at all times is an important foundation for compassionate care - your thoughtful review allows the team to understand they got this entirely right for you. Thank you . I know it’ll mean a lot when I pass it on.

Take great care,

Annie
