"Waiting time"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I attended the Walk in at 5pm on 31/10/18 assuming that this had replaced the Walk in service at Battlehill. I had a suspected UTI.

I was seen at 17.55 by a nurse who told me that I would need to be seen by a doctor but that they didn't start until 18.30 and there were appointments before me so it would likely be 19.00 before I was seen.

I was called in at 19.25.

When I have previously gone to Battlehill for a UTI this was all dealt with by the nurse with no need for a doctor.

I'm a bit bemused that instead of just seeing one medical professional

I then had to be seen by 2. Surely if the Battlehill Walk in can provide this service Rake Lane could? It just seems a waste of previous doctors time.

On the positive side, the doctor I did see was wonderful. Very friendly, extremely thorough and extremely cheerful considering he was on night shift. Unfortunately I didn't get his name but I would like to pass on my thanks again to him.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thanks for getting in touch to share feedback about your care. I was sorry to hear that you had reason to access urgent care services recently, I do hope you are feeling a lot better now?

I’m really sorry that you had to wait to be seen by the doctor, and that you felt that some of this waiting could have been avoided based on your experience in the past ? Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to triage and treat patients as quickly as we can.

I will share your review with the team in urgent care and we will do our best to ensure it reaches the doctor who cared for you. It’s lovely to know that you appreciated his kindness and professionalism.

Fingers crossed you stay well but should you need help for similar care and treatment in the future, the best advice I can give is to call NHS 111 at any time day or night. They will be able to recommend where you will be able to access the quickest service and they can also make appointments with out of hours GPs.

I hope this is helpful,

All the best,

Annie
