My elderly aunt was recently taken to GRI by ambulance in the early hours with a severe mouth bleed. She was seen by excellent staff but as they have no MaxFax department she was transferred to the QUEH. Again by ambulance at around 03.30. She was duly seen by MaxFax who controlled the bleed and was told she could go home. This was around 06.30 approx.
One of the wonderful nurses came into the cubicle and asked "You got money? I'll phone you a taxi." Really? An 88 year old registered blind pensioner who arrived by ambulance in blood stained nightwear and they'll phone a taxi? OUTRAGEOUS. To add insult they had the audacity to give her a pair of paper trousers to put on for the 12 mile journey home as she was only in nightwear. Words actually fail me.
