"Nash Centre Brook Suite - Serendipity"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Following a routine bowel cancer screen, a surprising find of a lesion on my lung.

A fast pathway of diagnostics by the respiratory team, I was reviewed by a SR who was very good. I was following the NHS pathway at this point.

All xray department during diagnostics were very professional with the suspicion

Of cancer no specialist nurse support was offered however.

A diagnosis following lung biopsy of Adenocarcinoma, still under the NHS pathway.

Lung cancer, I had no symptoms was leading an ectremely active life, and had never smoked in my life.

Still no inpute from the specialist nurses however.

I was able to have private surgery in the cardiothoracic unit

All staff especially two sisters in Brook Suite. were fantastic on Brook Suite were amazing and fully supportive. A surgeon had been highly recommended for my surgery.,

The surgeon was exceptional and his focus totally encompassing towards ensuring the best care of his patient (total holistic approach) his skill and focus is inspiring. I felt totally supported at a very diificult time, despite the excessive hours he works. The surgeon told me I was with them by ‘Serendipity” by chance. My prognosis is good despite having to now continue my journey with Chemotherapy which I have decided to have privately.

Thank you to all, but most of all Thank you the surgeon and the Aneathetist who looked after me in the Cardiothoracic theatres and of course the Theatre team.
