"My son"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Mackinnon House Springpark Resource Centre/Day Hosp

(as a parent/guardian),

I felt when they visited my son they never took notes and was different people each time so there was no relationship and were asking him the same questions everyday, and his reaction I still keep having these suicide thoughts and never really reacted to it, the Friday before he took his on life he was at the centre and was asked the same question again about his thoughts and said I still have the suicide thoughts, when he came out he was angry frustrated and said what is the point, that Sunday he almost took his life, so there is something wrong in the system, I felt they should have acted upon this when he kept saying this, obviously just another statistic, now he is in Mackinnon House and I feel he isn't getting any better

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear Mum920,

I am so sorry to hear what your son has been going through, and I am even more sorry that he has been feeling angry and frustrated at some of the support he has been given through this difficult time. I can only imagine how this must make you feel as his Mum.

I have already sent your post on to the Head of Service, who is keen for you to get in touch with the service directly to look into this a bit more and see how we can take this forward in a more positive way for you and your son. If you could get in touch with me in the first instance that would be really helpful - my email address is lorna.fairlie@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Best Wishes,

Lorna
