"The attitude of the staff was not helpful"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a service user),

I had come off a plane from Turkey early October at 3am. I had been bitten multiple times on my ankle by insects and my foot was badly swollen and I had difficulty walking on it. I have experience this before and had an acute cellulitis and needed antibiotics quickly. I went into the minor injuries unit and when I explained what the problem was I was rudely told this is a minor injuries unit and the looks between the staff were very disparaging. This made me feel very unwelcome and a waste of time.

A nurse did look at my ankle and their attitude changed when they realised I did need antibiotics but informed me there was no one to prescribe at QMH. I was advised to call NHS 24 or go the VHK. After I left I realised they did not take down any of my details despite the fact they had looked at my ankle and given advise. As a registered nurse myself I am aware of accountability and not recording the visit would be against NMC guidelines. Despite that I felt the attitude of the staff was not helpful as their manner was off and is was as if they could not be bothered with me.

Dear Jacks189,

Thank you for taking the time to post and I am sorry that you have not had a good experience in MIU at Queen Margaret. If possible I would be grateful if you could contact me on the number below so I can get some more detail from you. Many thanks
