About: Woodside Medical Centre

I have recently been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks whilst I'm at university that has led to me walking out of lectures and not going altogether. I first visited the gp 4 months ago, I was very tearful as I didn't understand what was happening to me, I was scared that I was going mad. The Doctor was so kind, he made me feel normal and explained it happens to many people. I was given some medication to help stop the adrenalin rush that comes from panic attacks, I was also referred to IPAT. IPAT is a counselling service that offers CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which I recieved at tile hill library next door to the practice. I came back to the surgery again today as I finished my CBT and my medication and I've had a few episodes of anxiety and panic attacks recently. I have seen the same Dr again, he was very kind and understanding, again he said that it was totally normal and he can see a big improvement in me from when I first went to see him. I am now on a repeat prescription and I can manage the anxiety on my own with medication and the strategies I've learned from CBT.

It is very hard for people to speak out when struggling with mental health, it is important to take the time to look after yourself. In the practice there are 6 Drs to look after over 11000 patients! You can phone the practice at 8.30am to try and get an appointment, or you can physically go the the practice at 8.30am to try and get one, it may take a while but it is important to keep trying.
