Earlier this year I had a kidney removed in Yorkshire due to renal cancer. A few weeks later I started with tremendous pain in my left shoulder. this was found to be secondary bone cancer and I was referred to ROH under the care of Prof Abudu and his team. From the moment arrived on the 18th I sensed a different atmosphere to other hospitals had stayed at. I felt at ease in what was a frightening situation for me, especially since my family were not able to attend. First up was pre op and what lovely people they were. I then met a consultant after being admitted to ward 3. He went through the biopsy that was planned for Friday and once again made me feel totally relaxed. The staff on ward 3, just don't know where to start. the catering and cleaning staff, the doctors and nurses were first class. I hope now that the consultant and his team can come up with a surgical option. If anybody can, he can. Also, the consultant sent the lovely McMillan nurse to see me. Hope I didn't cause to many problems for the nurses on the ward. All the staff are a credit to the NHS, to their families, but above all, to themselves.
