The Practice Nurse asked if along with my normal blood test checks for high blood pressure , if I would like to also have a PSA tes for Prostate cancer. I said yes, and the results of this test gave a reading of 9.3 that equired further investigation. My doctor carried out a physical examination and found and found that further investigations were needed. My doctor arranged with for me to have these investigations at the local hospital . As a result of these investigations it was discovered that I had prostate cancer, confined entirely within the prostate gland. I had further meetings and discussions with specialist consultants at the hospital.
I have made the decision to have surgery to remove my prostate gland as a result of these discussions and the operation for this is scheduled for November 13th 2018.
I am very grateful that the effective and efficient actions of the Practice Nurse and my GP led to an early diognosis if this cancer entirely contained within the prostate gland. The discussions with the specialist hospital consultants and resulting planned surgery will work towards work towards a cure from this cancer for me. I have been treated at all times with dignity , been kept well informed of all the developments with my condotion, and also with genuine care, pofessionalism and skills by all the staff medical and non- medical involved with my cancer.
