"Overcoming anxiety"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I have been suffering from periods of anxiety for 20 years and since having children the periods of anxiety have got longer until I finally couldn’t cope.

I was told about inclusion Thurrock by my GP and in 2017 I attended a 6 week group therapy class which I found extremely helpful. In 2018 after a series of anxiety periods I referred myself back to inclusion Thurrock for 1 to 1 counsiling to help me use the valuable information I’d learnt in the group sessions and tailor it specifically for me.

The therapy was life changing, I felt understood and supported and gradually over a number of weeks through CBT (specifically behaviour challenging) I could finally feel myself starting to relax. I looked at anxiety differently, I understood how my reaction defined the response and by changing my behaviour would lessen if not eliminate the anxiety. The therapist (Georgina) was knowledgable, approachable and understanding which always made me feel able to be honest and open up.

Mental health is a huge issue and it’s fantastic to see such a valuable resource available without the usual delay and red tape. I would encourage anyone struggling to use inclusion Thurrock it will change your life.

Dear Echo13

Thank you so much for taking the time to write in and share your experience. I cant tell you how much this is valued by other people reading these stories and often, it gives people the courage to try the support for themselves.

So your story can and will help to change peoples lives. That's pretty amazing isn't it??

Your story is wonderfully clear and " matter of fact ". You help people realize that being anxious is something usual and normal but that sometimes we can feel overwhelmed and need to learn healthier ways of first recognizing, then dealing with anxiety.

Many thanks for your kind words and on behalf of the whole team at Inclusion Thurrock can I wish you all the very best and enjoy your new found perspective and control over anxiety

Paul
