"At a time where anxiety abounds I felt safe in..."

About: Glenfield Hospital

What I liked

This weeks short stay was my third admission since last september, all respiratory related, on all occasions I have been treated both medically and personally to a standard far beyond anything that I could have wished for, if I were to choose one word that sums up the staff (and I mean from top to bottom) at Glenfield it would be 'professional', they all have my respect, don't know enough to comment on the technical side of their work but for me the willingness to assist when required and provide a cheerful atmosphere (yes there are some charactors working there, thank god) is often as beneficial as any form of medication, it has been to me anyway.

A big thankyou to all in CDU (thrice) plus wards 24, 15 and 20.

What could be improved

Treatment both medical and personal are for me faultless, I did however experience some limited difficulties settling down in bed due to the location of the electric sockets and limited cabinet top space, not enough to warrant a complaint but as I sleep with a CPAP, power points and space is required, add to this the nebuliser and it doesnt leave much room.

I hope you will appreciate that if this is the worst that I can think of to moan about then they must be doing something right.

Anything else?

One final word, apology really, the last place I wanted to be during this weeks exascerbation was at Glenfield, and I believe it may have become obvious on the odd occasion, as a respiratory sufferer I try to avoid people with colds and flu like the plague, unfortunately this latest flare up was due to my contracting flu (yes, it was proper flu, I was on my back for three whole days prior to admission) so by my (possibly misguided) code of ethics I did not wish to put fellow sufferers under threat, I can't remember her name but I think I may have been a little uptight with the physiotherapist who came to see me, I'm sorry, we were both aiming for the same target, I wasn't thinking straight.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment on NHS Choices. I know the staff in the areas you name will be touched.

Wishing you well in your recovery and hoping that better health means that we don't need to see you for a while (in a good way of course!!)

Best wishes
