About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / General surgery

following day surgery was told overnight stay was required for further monitoring taken to ward c30 on arrival the porter had difficulty moving the trolley i was on through corridor which was more like a warehouse with box etc stacked 4ft high almost the entire lenght major fire hazard ,my stay was in bay 4 conditions of cleanliness was poor to say the least the tv at my bed was filthy dust was thick on surfaces, blood stains on bedside curtains which were changed before i left ,trails of blood and feces on floor leading to toilet, windowsill totally cluttered with various,my stay in this ward was short mainly by the fact i walked out at 8.15 pm the following day ,i have had been a patient in several wards of this hospital over the years inc general wards ,icu ,infections ward yes infection caught while staying in a ward which was i considered clean. may i point out that the nursing staff on ward c30 i thought were outstanding ,however as for the ward sister/charge sister her/his job is the responsibility of the whole ward time they left there station and inspected the bays on their wards .
