"Absolutely useless"

About: Fairfax Group Practice

Having been a patient of this practice for all my 40+ years. This was my family practice. Started with 2/3 excellent doctors. Big enough to know but small enough to have that personal doctor/patient relationship. The whole place was such a beacon of how a practice should be run and how a doctor’s care can make them friends to their patients as well.

Now onto now, oh dear. Things have changed so much and money is the deciding factor now. The reception staff are excellent and have often argued my family’s cases against doctors. They have been put in huge confrontations and do not get the recognition they deserve. They are often the point of call for angry patients but when the doctors refuse to prescribe etc, they are ones telling often upset and angry patients. I have heard them on many occasions pleading different patients cases asking doctors to repeat medication etc.

Now being owned by 4 partners, it takes the care out of the equation and they are now governed by money and greed.

They want patients that do not visit often and do not need referrals or constant medication etc, so they get the money from government and don’t have to do anything.

They refuse to refer for many illnesses and deal with things ‘in house’ that they are not trained to deal with.

It gives me no pleasure in writing this review today as I am an extremely loyal person and have loved this practice and it’s people over the years.

Such a crying shame it has fell so far from grace. They are now too big to have that personal touch and the doctors in general lack compassion and care for people often in dire situations.

We are very sorry that you feel you have cause to complain. We take all complaints very seriously and it is extremely important to us to receive detailed feedback so we can continue to improve our patient care. We would therefore be most grateful if you could contact the surgery so that we could arrange a time to meet with you and address your concerns”
