Following a routine mammogram in December 2017, recall for further screening, ultra sound and biopsies early January 2018. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January. Referral to Surgeon, treatment began with mastectomy on 1st February. Ongoing treatment and further surgical procedures.
The early diagnosis, swift and efficient surgery and treatment has been excellent.
The Surgeon has been clearly focussed on the best possible outcomes for myself, his attention to detail, explanations of alternative options and his gentlemanly manner has been reassuring at all times.
The Breast Care Nurse team have been a key factor in my recovery. The knowledge, expertise and support has been invaluable. The informal support at he Breast Care Support Group gives an opportunity for further queries that are sometimes forgotten in the more formal hospital setting.
Communication has been excellent, appointment time reminders by text are very useful. The ease of access when contacting the Surgeon’s
Secretary, who was very helpful, she was efficient dealing with additional queries.
I was faced with a nightmare diagnosis at the beginning of this year. I am so very grateful for the breast screening service followed by the swift diagnosis and treatment. I urge every woman to attend their mammogram appointments, without the issues identified on my mammogram I had no idea I had a problem.
I have had excellent treatment and care at Russell’s Hall Hospital.
My grateful thanks to everyone.
"Breast Cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment."
