"So sick of issues"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Urology

Have complained many a time regarding my care or lack of it. Very disappointed that once again I was faced with an issue today. Came to day case ward 1 to have some uretal stents fitted before my hysterectomy in 2 weeks. Firstly I knew nothing about how the procedure is done, the only info I had was from my gynaecologist saying I needed stents. No appointment with anyone in urology to discuss this just a letter from them saying I’d been put on the waiting list and we could discuss pro’s and cons when I come in for the procedure. So I had to call to find out if I could eat/drink what kind of aneathestic I would have etc. I was told local anaesthetic and could eat and drink anytime. When I get to the day case ward at 12.30 after a few checks and getting into my gown etc a consultant comes to see me and asks me why I have the stents I explained and he asked when I had had my hysterectomy to which I replied I haven’t it’s in 2 weeks .... consultant looks very confused and asks why he is removing the stents now then before my hysterectomy, I said you aren’t removing them you are putting them in ... consultants words .... this is what you call a cock up, actually it’s more than a cock up... basically I’d been booked in for removal of stents not placement of them. I couldn’t have the procedure. So 2 days off work for no reason, 2 hours waiting at the hospital for no reason, extra costs for childcare. I am absolutely furious as I also now have to have more time out of work to go to a pre op this week and 2 more days off next week to actually have this procedure done in preparation for my hysterectomy. I’m so cross/angry/stressed and upset about all of this. The booking manager came to see me and didn’t even introduce herself, disgusting, she also had someone else with her who also didn’t introduce herself and just stood there. Only reason I know it was the booking manager is because a nurse told me. On a positive note, the consultant I spoke with and the nurses and assistants on the ward were brilliant and couldn’t apologise enough. Not their fault though and they shouldn’t have to apologise for others slack work. Absolutely furious about the whole situation.
