I had my first appointment with ENT in September that too after a number of cancellations made by the department. I have severe issues with my ears which include psoriasis and ear infections regularly after finally getting referred by my GP I got seen at ENT.

The department itself is very good I saw a consultant who started treatment immediately (this was my appointment in September) after I had seen the consultant I headed to reception to book in for an appointment which I was told would be on a certain day and that I would receive a letter to confirm this. The letter did not come and the day of my appointment approached. I called in to the department and was told there is no appointment made however I had been informed by the reception team member it has been made. I took time off work to go for this appointment as I really want treatment for my ears. Bottom line is there is no communication between reception staff and patients. Appointments should be cancelled if the patient is aware as it’s not fair if patient is taking time off.
