"Why do nursing if you ignore patients...."

About: North Middlesex Hospital

Today (sat 13th oct 2018) we went to visit a 92 year old friend as she had been admitted there on thursday 11th after becoming totally blind.

Obviously, our friend is very distraught at the fact she cannot see and staff have also found an infection for which she needs treatment.

We bought bits to her only to find a morale so low it may as well be on the floor. She wanted the bedpan, so my husband called a nurse. No one came and at this point our dear friend was getting very upset as the infection in question is a bowel infection and she could hardly wait.

Again, my husband called for someone and still it took about 5 more minutes.

When the nurse did come she did not say one word to our friend..not one, just gave her the bedpan and pulled the curtains. This nurse left us horrified as she looked so miserable we both said she is in the wrong job.

When she was returning with the bedpan, my husband said "Thank you" and she completely ignored him, not even a glance.

We are both furious as this is the attention giving by this staff member to a lady that needs support and tenderness and she is not getting this from this particular nurse.

This lady has a daughter and she is being kept up to date by the doctors so we cannot fault that, but this, very disappointed and scared for our old 92 year old.lady.
