"Emergency Admission PM4th October 2018"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

My mum was admitted to A&E at the WHH on the eve of Thursday 4th October.

Mum has late stages of Brain Mets caused by her Lung Cancer. Mum had swellings appear around these 4 tumours in her head which caused an onset of stroke like symptoms and seizures which were not nice to see at all.

We were looked after by a LOVELY nurse (Lovely lovely LOVELY) and I have never met anyone more suited to the field of medicine. I am eternally grateful for your kindness assurance and compassion shown to my family.

She found us space on Richard Stevens Ward (Stroke Unit). This is where I experienced a slight blip from a male Charge Nurse, who despite being earlier very pleasant was extremely standoffish when in his own realm. I am a professional so will not mention the name as am sure rotas will provide this to the necessary area.

The following morning was a COMPLETE change from the previous night. I will as much as possible list all of those involved in my Mums care and APOLOGISE if I omit you;

First there is the delightful and knowledgeable Sister. If I would of met you the previous evening I am sure you would of realised I was simply a Son worried about his Mum after seeing something I have never seen before. I arrived pre visiting hours and your kindness shown to me will again NEVER be forgotten. You love and care continued throughout Mums stay right up until we departed on 5th Oct 2018.

Then there is the lovely Speech Lady. Thank you for taking the time to leave a note whilst we were at an emergency slot with Mums Oncologist the EXCEPTIONAL Dr and his Nurse (Whom I will also NEVER forget) down in Oncology. Even a mention to a particular Receptionist in Oncology. Thank you.

My most special thanks and love go to the OT Therapist. Our shared tears will remain with me and give me strength. Thank you so much for all you aided my Mum in doing.

I am writing separately to the Chief Exec, the Sec. of State for Health and Damien Green MP to enforce this review. I now have no space left so.. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts x
