"Very disappointed"

About: Wexham Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

After arriving at A and E on advice from 111 with heavy bleeding and suspected miscarriage at 9-10 weeks. I was initially dealt with relatively swiftly and kindly. Bloods and urine taken cannular fitted.

They assured me I'd have a scan that evening.

3 hours later I had a dr who seemed to be asking me constant questions and reporting to gynaecology for advice who seemed totally disinterested as the bleeding had now slowed down it seemed they were keen to get rid of me. No concern as to whether there was a clot causing the stop in bleeding after another hour or so they said to go home and they would refer me to the early pregnancy unit for the following week. Oh and NO there would be no scan.

I had to ask what the blood and urine resits were and the response was very vague. Apparently my blood and urine showed positive for pregnancy. Had they actually bothered to do the scan the would have found that the pregnancy had ended several weeks before. I also had to request for the cannular to be removed?! To be fair the lady doctor was very pleasant in her manner. But did t fill me with confidence.

So home I went 3 days later they offered an early pregnancy scan which incidentally was the same day as my dating scan at Wycombe hospital. Should I go to wexham or wycombe I asked - 'oh go to wycombe they can deal with any after care if need ' was the reply. WRONG Wycombe scanned and informed pregnancy had ended several weeks previously but because I hadn't gone to the early pregnancy unit I can't be signed off as officially miscarrying so now have to wait a further two weeks for yet another scan to confirm what we already knowing they might offer me surgery or medication. So nearly 5 weeks down the line I am still carrying a deceased foetus waiting for a proper miscarriage. I am TOTALLY disappointed in the advice from wexham. And no doubt I'll end up there again in A and E for another 5 hours bleeding in a week or so. Maybe they'll actually scan me this time. Maybe not.
