"Dissapointed with the referral to a scan"

I have booked in an appointment for my son back in September as i have discovered a lump in his abdomen. Went to see a doctor and was told it's just a gland that is swollen due to some infection in his body. The obvious suggestion to let it go back by itself in a couple of weeks and then come back if no change.

I have returned with him a month later, as the lump was still there and was getting worried. The doctor said she will refer him for a scan as a matter of emergency. 1 week after this appointment and i call the GP to check when is my son's appointment due for a scan, and i was told the referral was sent and i have to wait for them to contact me with the available appointments. Another weeks' gone by and today i go the the GP to check again and they gave me the number for where the referral was made. When i call the reception at BRI and asked to speak at radiology to find out when my son has got the appointment for, i was told that the referral was made only last Friday (which is 10 days after the appointment with the GP!!!!!!!!!!). If it takes 10 days to send a referral as a matter of emergency i don't want to know what it would have been in normal conditions. This is outrageous. I want to know who is responsible if something happens to my son, from the time i have requested a scan until he is actually due for this scan!!!!

I'm sorry that there appeared to have been a delay in the referral for your son to BRI.

I am unsure as to why there was a delay but, if you wish to discuss this further so that we can investigate and ensure processes are in place to prevent any occurrence, then please do get in touch and we will take the matter forward.
