After suffering a trauma to my left hip following a bicycle crash I was admitted to the Alexandra by ambulance which arrived within 15 minutes. The two paramedics were so kind. On arrival I was admitted to the trauma ward(17?) and for the rest of my stay I was extremely well looked after by kind, efficient and caring doctors and nurses. The damage to my left hip was fractured and displaced so after much careful, detailed explanation and ample time given for questions and answers it was deemed necessary to undergo a full hip replacement . Every step of the way was like this, careful unrushed explanations. Immediate recovery was helped by nurses and physiotherapists who saw to my every need, The surgeon who carried out the procedure was satisfied with the way the operation went. One of his colleagues who saw the X-ray commented ‘it was a thing of beauty’ a reference to the high quality of the work. A reassurance so badly needed. The surgeon in question performs hip replacements frequently and this gives reassurance that he is highly skilled. I was moved to Ward 10 for the remaining few days and the nurse assigned to me who also looked after me on the trauma ward was lovely. She walked the extra mile, not just with me but with other patients in her care. Thankyou so much everyone. I think you all work as hard as you possibly can and I could see that staffing levels could be kinder.
