I had a total left hip replacement at Trafford General in 2007 (by the South African team).
At first everything seemed to be ok, I did all my post op exercises and responded well coming off crutches after 5 weeks. However, when I went for my final check-up after 12months the Xray was very dark and the consultant couldn't see the state of the hip. I asked for another Xray but the consultant said it would be okay.
Since then my back on the lefthand side has deteriorated rapidly. I have had several xrays and was told that "The lateral view of the lower spine shows diffuse degenerative change with loss of disc height at virtually all levels".
Also a consultant neurosurgeon said that my left sacroiliac pain is very likely due to my left hip operation.
I now have to use a walking stick all the time and my pain is worse than before the hip operation. I am seriously considering legal action as my life now is greatly restricted.
"Unhappy with results of hip replacement"
