My son was admitted by ambulance with a serious leg injury following a collision during a football game. He was in serious pain and was cared for by a fabulous team of nurses and surgeons. I would also like to say that a healthcare support worker called Lyndsay could not have been more courteous and helpful and bent over backwards to ask if myself and my daughter-in-law needed any refreshments as we arrived at 10pm.and were there until 4am although we had to wait for an opinion from an orthopaedic surgeon. When they arrived they acted with absolute professionalism and answered all our questions thoroughly. I requested if it would be possible for my son to be transferred to a Glasgow hospital as he has two young children and it would have been near impossible for his wife and young family to visit. The team pulled out all the stops and contacted NHS Glasgow. They stabilised his leg and we transported him to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. I cannot thank this team of dedicated A&E NHS workers enough.
The prognosis for him playing football again is low due to the severity of the injury, I would also like to add that I work for the NHS in Glasgow and have done for over forty years and I believe this is the best team I have seen in action in a long time.
