"Amazing service"

About: Glenfield Hospital / Breast surgery

I first attended following a routine mammogram that showed an area of concern. My first visit involved some further tests, scans and a biopsy. Throughout this visit everything was explained to me in easy to understand terms and every member of staff that I had contact with was friendly, professional, and efficient. I was introduced to a breast care nurse who gave me lots of useful information and also gave me the opportunity to ask questions. I was given an appointment to get my test results the following week. During that appointment, it was confirmed, in a sympathetic but professional manner that I had breast cancer. A treatment plan was discussed and throughout this discussion my opinions, thoughts, and wishes were fully acknowledged and where possible, whilst taking into account my best interests, were accommodated. I was subsequently admitted for surgery, and again found everyone, both on the ward and in theatre, to be friendly and professional. I am now at home, but I know that should I need any help or advice I can phone and someone will be there for me. I am hugely grateful that I have been truly cared for by the amazing staff at the breast care centre and ward 24.
