"Improved gait and stamina to walk"

About: Vascular (Blood Vessels) / Self Management Pilot

(as the patient),

I've been on the Vascular Self Management Pilot for nine months and it's going fine. My Walking has improved both in terms of how I walk and the distance I can now walk. Not overnight, but over the nine months there has been a great improvement, boosting my confidence along the way.

I was referred to the Vascular Clinic by my GP, Dr Mary at the clinic has been very encouraging and motivating. One of the tools that I found was a motivator was the step counter and blood pressure monitor that I was given. Initially I was sending weekly updates with the number of steps taken, the encouragement given by Dr Mary made me want to increase the number of steps for each report.

I am now reporting on a monthly basis and am still keen to  take a few more steps than last time.

Dear puppisqq99,

What a lovely story! I am truly pleased your walking has improved - you should be very proud of your achievement as it can't have been easy and has taken much perseverance!

Dr Mary will be delighted to hear that the tools and encouragement provided over the last 9 months have boosted your confidence and motivated you to keep improving - I think you will be quite an inspiration to other patients too.

Thanks again for taking the time to write and good luck with the step count.

Take care,

Kirsten
