"Frightened to ever visit A&E ever again."

About: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

I was brought to A&E on the 30th August 2018 approximately 3.50pm by ambulance suffering CHEST PAINS and breathing problems. Initially nurses were fine and did all the relevant tests and x-ray.

Things changed when I saw an A&E consultant, who ask me what I wanted from this visit, (at this point no examination had taken place) I replied I would like to know what is wrong with me. He said you have been to A&E numerous times with the same complaint and seen lots of Consultants and nobody knows what's wrong with you. Other than a liver and kidney problem that you are being treated for (WHICH IS NEWS TO ME ).you must remember A&E is for sick people. We will wait for your blood test to come back and you can go home.

I suffer from a heart problem, blood clots on the lungs , COPD, hiatus hernia, as was told never ignore CHEST PAINS as you have previously had a heart attack.

I felt the doctors attitude was uncalled for , I was genuinely unwell

. I will never visit this deparment again as they have now made me to afraid to come here.

Rest assured should something happen that I need urgent care again it will not be at CROYDON UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.

I am so sorry to learn of your experience in ED. I have passed your comments to the senior staff responsible for the department so that they are aware of your concerns, although I have been unable, from the information provided, to identify who was responsible for your care and treatment.

If you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service ( PALS) we can investigate further.

Our PALS office can be contacted by telephone on 020 8401 3210 or by email at ch-tr.pals@nhs.net. The office is open during the week from 9am to 4:45pm

Kind Regards

Sarah Pritchard, Patient Experience Manager
