This is a complaint against the procedure for a Hysteroscopy at Gloucester Hospital in 2018
In July 2018 I was sent a letter from Gloucestershire Hospital giving me an appointment for 9.00am a week later
I checked my diary & my routine appointment for changing my pessary was due.
I went to this appointment & was told I was not there for my pessary but there for a Hysteroscopy (But that was not on the letter that was sent)
I had gone for a check-up previously a while back as I had pinkish discharge just the once.
I was told at the hospital all was ok.
This followed by a scan that showed the lining of my uterus was too thick, it was 5mm instead of 4mm
When I arrived at the hospital July they explained the procedure for the Hysteroscopy & that I may experience slight discomfort with a little pain.
This was the most distressing experience I have ever had at any hospital.
This left me traumatised to the point I nearly passed out.
I had to scream at them to stop when I had excruciating pain that lifted me off the bed.
I was horrified to say the least that this procedure is allowed to be carried out at all.
I was the told this can be done under anaesthetic.
I asked the question surely if this is so painful to me, what difference would this make under anaesthetic? The only difference I can see is that more damage can be done while you are under the anaesthetic is this not obvious?
I am horrified and still disturbed this can happen.
I am left very concerned, & need my mind put at rest that there is nothing going on with my health, but will not take this barbaric procedure again, so will need some other form.
I feel it is my duty to bring this to light for other patients that may go through the same.
I do not have a problem with the Nurses, as they were doing a job.
If I sound troubled, it is because I am still in shock as to what had happened
With regards
""Excruciatingly painful hysteroscopy""
