"Bad experience in the early pregnancy unit"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Gynaecology

I attended Coventry hospital by ambulance last night because I am pregnant and experiencing abdominal pain. I was admitted in early pregnancy ward, the night staff that attended to me was so unfriendly and unsympathetic and didn’t have any care in the world what The staff was saying and doing put me at unease and very uncomfortable....while that was happening there was another women who was also pregnant who was bleeding she was told to sit down and wait her turn where she waited for a while and these member of staff started mumbling negatively to each other!

The treatment and care that was provided was so unethical that I discharge myself as I felt vulnerable alone with this member of staff who seem to think that they can treat patients any how! From there I did inform the particular member of staff that I still not well in pain but I am going. The member said it’s your choice and I ask her where is the exit, the member of staff pointed at the door. Then I left. I strongly felt that I should share my experience at Coventry hospital because I honestly do not want anyone to go through what I did especially when you are pregnant.

Thank you very much for posting your review on NHS Choices about the Emergency Gynaecology Unit at University Hospital.

I was so sorry to read about your experience.

This is is not the standard of care which we aim to provide for our patients, and for this, I would like to apologise.

I have passed on your comments to the Modern Matron for Gynaecology.

She was very concerned to read about the events you described, and will be speaking to the staff on duty that night. She would urge you to contact her on susan.harrington@uhcw.nhs.uk, or to speak to our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 028 4203 / feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk so that we can look into your concerns in more detail.

We are grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients. Thank you again for leaving your comments on NHS Choices.
