"Excellent care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as a carer),

I recently brought my dad who has been quite unwell with a chest infection to A&E at Crosshouse Hospital.

We were greeted by a very young junior doctor (whose name I think is Dr Raman). I cannot express how polite he was and he listened to every word carefully and carried out his assessment. He was constantly seen with a smile no matter how busy everyone seemed to be there. We were kept informed about the investigation/treatment and what to expect until my dad got transferred to CAU.

I just wanted to express my gratitude to all members of the A&E staff who work extremely hard to deliver the best care possible. This is a good evidence of how grateful we should all be of our NHS!

Dear GY,

I hope your dad is feeling better.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. As a department, we believe that we can learn from excellence. We can definitely learn a lot from this. You have highlighted the importance of listening and keeping patients and relatives informed. We will be able to reflect on this as a team and hopefully it will lead to better care for future patients.

Unfortunately, I will not get to speak with Dr Raman today but once I do I will be back in touch to let you know what he says. I am sure he will be absolutely delighted.

You may be interested to hear that feedback forms part of a junior doctor's assessment for progressing to the next stage in their training. Dr Raman will be able to place this in his online folder for his end of year review.

Dear GY,

Dr Raman was absolutely delighted to receive your feedback. He says thank you for taking the time to do this and wants to assure you that he 'will continue to strive to listen to patient's concerns'. He also wishes you a speedy recovery.
