"Siege mentality in place instead of service at..."

About: St Ann's Road Surgery

On Saturday 29/09/2018 I had a macerated diabetic foot ulcer on my left foot which had become infected and was causing swelling and pain from the foot to half way up my leg. I went to the Laurels Healthy Living Centre managed by AT Medics,as I believed it was open from 9-00am till 1-00pm and upon my arrival I discovered the door was locked. I spoke into the speak through and asked to see a GP. I was told that the GP was fully booked and could not see me. I returned home and dialled 111 who phoned on my behalf and they were informed that the AT Medics GP could not see me. 111 then arranged for me to go to a practice in N17 at Somerset Gardens at 7-00pm. This practice is supplied with GP's from Federated4health and is open on a Saturday from 8-00am till 8-00pm.Upon my arrival on a walking stick I found the door opened automatically and the receptionist booked me in. This was in stark contrast to my experience at The Laurels earlier in the day. At 7-00pm the GP saw me and after examination was satisfied I had a problem and wrote out two prescriptions for me which included two types of penecillin. It is not acceptable that AT Medics fail to provide a similar service at the Laurels as the community of St Anns Ward deserve better than both myself and 111 received on the day in question.
