"made to feel like a nuisance and an inconvenience"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a relative),

On a recent visit to hospital we found the receptionist rude ,uncaring and very unhelpful.

On arrival my father (who was having severe nosebleeds for 2 weeks on and off , and had another that he could not stop ) went up there to be told by her rudely "to go to A and E "even though the doctor who had previously quaterised his nose told him to go straight to ENT.

After sitting in A and E for 2 hours he was then told to go to King Fisher ward, as I arrived on the ward with him she rolled her eyes carried on writing and ignored him . Then thrust a form at him and said fill this out.

Another nurse who was nearby said hello and welcome to us and glared at the receptionist as she noticed how rude she was.

He explained that he had filled it out 48 hours ago and she said abruptly that they didn't keep them and to fill it out again.

She then proceeded to say that is was really busy and we would not be seen for ages. She said all we will do is cauterise it again (for the 5th time), we won't do anything else to investigate why you are having these. This was even though the doctor said they would.

I was ready to have a big argument with her but my father just asked me to keep quiet and leave it .As i didn't want to stress him any futher i did.

I do not think this is acceptable service. He has paid all his life for N.I as most of us do and we derserve to be helped and treated properly for illnesses etc. Not made to be felt like we are a nuisance and an inconvenience.

Something needs to be done about this.
