What I liked
was admitted to Cedar ward on Sunday the 15th January, the staff were all so kind and welcoming, they made me feel at ease at an upsetting time. I love the new changes (last time i stayed there was 8 years ago so i don't know how long the changes have been in place) There was a welcome booklet next to every bed with all of the information you would need for your stay.
The best change is that dads are now allowed to stay with you. When i had my babies 10 and 8 years ago i couldn't bare to stay in hospital more than a couple of hours after the birth because my husband had to go home. It is totally unreasonable for the dad to be sent home an hour after his baby is born. I needed him with me and he needed to bond with our babies so i went home too early and was exhausted. When i have this baby i will be happy to stay in over night as i know my husband can be there to help look after my baby. I would like to say well done to whoever made these changes! It really does make a difference.
What could be improved
It was really hot in the night, i know babies need to be kept warm but it was uncomfortably hot, other patients mentioned this too.
I had to ask for a jug of water an hour after being there although i did notice that later on someone was being admitted and they put a jug there before she even arrived so it might just be a one off.
The cleaner was using the same cloth to clean the bin, floor and then the sink, she wasn't using any chemicals just rinsing the cloth under the tap!
"Much better than the last time i stayed!"
