"So many complaints following one short ENT visit."

About: Spire Liverpool Hospital

I attended the ENT department earlier today regarding discomfort and a visible lump in my throat and I am still struggling with the way I was treated by the consultant. 3000 words won't be enough for all that I need to say so I will keep each point brief:

-I did not feel listened to, rather that the consultant had diagnosed my condition before meeting me,

- I had to forceably answer "No", in response to questions asked, but I believe this was ignored,

-I had to request nasal anaesthetic spray before a nasal endoscopy and was made to feel uncomfortable by the consultant telling me I didn't need it, even after I explained I had had one before the same procedure in the past, and then having to ask for it again,

-The nurse dropped the nasal spray fitting on the floor, but the consultant said "it was all right", took it from the nurse, fitted it to the spray without changing or cleaning it, and put it into my nostrils,

-My throat and neck were not examined externally, even though my GP had expressed concern over my thyroid,

-When I asked about the "silent reflux" condition the consultant then diagnosed me with, he gave a brief description and advised me to Google it,

-When I asked how long I should monitor my symptoms after changing my diet as he advised, before contacting my GP if there was no change, he said there was no point as all he would do then was look down my throat with a camera. I wanted to know what to do if there was no improvement, so suggested three months, which he agreed with,

-The consultant dentified the growth in my throat as a cyst, and said there was nothing that could be done about it even though I told him I was in a great deal of discomfort. He seemed only concerned with whether I was in pain,

-One positive: he did give advise on dietary and lifestyle change which I will follow.
