"Traumatic experience."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

What I liked

The Nursing assistant that acted as chaperone, she was kind, supportive and quite literally, a shoulder to cry on.

The value of these nursing assistants is often overlooked, but they are the backbone of the hospital.

Anything else?

The attitude of the registrar that I saw was appalling. I felt like he could not be bothered to talk to me, he was slouched in his chair, disinterested in what I had to say. When he did discus my condition, he made me feel so bad, he laid the 'blame' squarely on my shoulders. I felt that he ignored the fact that I had a right to make my own choice regarding my own body. During his consultation I was so upset, I had a panic attack (not something that has happened to me before). But worst of all, he did not perform the procedure that I was referred to the clinic for, and instead of rescheduling, he discharged me.

I felt like my choice and my dignity were striped from me.

Thank you for your comments. I am really concerned to hear about the attitude of the registrar. I know your comments are anonymous, but I would really want to know his name so I could let him know how his behaviour came across. My contact details are below - perhaps you could let me know what time and date you attended, and any details of his appearance or name, so we can try and identify who this was?

Kind regards
