What could be improved

Not a comment about the care but the parking situation at Wigan is now beyond a joke and really does need sorting out. On attending with my mother for an appointment (in a wheelchair) there is no facility to drop off or collect patients and never any car park spaces. I had to park, get her out of the car, leave her, move the car about a mile away, walk back, and repeat the whole procedure in reverse coming out.

Anything else?

How do people cope when collecting the sick or injured from this place?

Thank you for your comments regarding the parking at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The difficulties in respect of this have been well recognised and a change is underway to alleviate the problems that our patients and visitors have been experiencing. From the beginning of March this year the car parking will be vastly improved with an increase in the number of disabled parking places on the site also being available. Staff will be parking at a town centre location which will free up partking spaces on the current staff car park on Freckleton Street. We envisage that this will make great improvements to the current parking arrangements at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Patient Opinion website and to let us have your views. Should you need to visit the hospital after the beginning of March this year, then I am sure that you will experience vast improvements with regard to the parking, and in particular the disabled parking.
