"A&E visit"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

When I visited Basingstoke and North Hampshire A&E it was busy and I had to wait for over three hours, but I was not in great pain and didn't think that this mattered. I don't think it is unreasonable to wait a few hours for treatment if you can.

What did matter is that the staff were all great. If was after midnight and their senses of humour were intact, they were attentive, alert and irreverent. They looked after me impeccably, gave great instructions in how to use crutches and even carried my smelly trainers to the car.

When you meet such dedicated professionals, breaking a leg, which I did, becomes quite a life-affirming experience!
