About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

Earlier in the year, I tried to take my own life because I was under a lot of stress from being a final year university student, a mother to a young  child and my partner was also training which took priority. In the past I had been sexually abused and assaulted which I had not come to terms with. I was referred to inclusion thurrock where I had therapy. I was able to talk about what had happened openly and without judgement. I was listened to and understood and my therapist explored with me why I felt the way I did. I was able to forgive myself for what had happened and understand my thoughts, feelings and behaviours. After finishing therapy I feel more confident in myself, I look forward to the future and have health coping strategies.

Dear IlikeA7X

Thank you so much for posting your story.

You know I can only guess at the sheer guts and strength it must have taken to have even started that journey into therapy. I'm so so pleased that you made it.

You have obviously worked really hard on understanding some of the dreadful things you experienced in your life and have found ways of making sense, forgiving yourself and acknowledging the truly positive elements of yourself.

Finding good support and using that to gain a better understanding of our feelings and behaviours is a fantastic thing but its also useful to plan how you will sustain your wellbeing and continue to use those healthy strategies or "tools ". Therefore, some people find the courses we offer at the Recovery College in Thurrock just the thing to help maintain that wellbeing and strengthen their new found confidence. I will include the link here in case you are interested;

I have to say that hearing stories like yours - hearing your positive experience of the service at Inclusion Thurrock makes me very proud of the whole team and the work we do but also, incredibly privileged to be working in a community with such brave people.

Thank you, and all the very best from the whole team at Inclusion Thurrock and the Recovery college.
