What I liked
The entire team working with cancer in-patients from dinner ladies to top consultants were kind, caring and professional.
The ward team were excellent in reaching out to patients, communicating well and sensitive to the needs of both patients and their carers.
Service User opinions are regularly sought.
The big C
What could be improved
The food on Mulbarton frequently totally mis-matches the needs of patients. Often cancer patients struggle to enjoy food or are unable to eat enough to maintain healthy nutritional status.
A choice of freshly made smaller meals (made in an adjacent galley kitchen) and appropriate snacks would hugely improve the care. I am appalled by lack of vision regarding the in-patient meals given the millions spent on state of the art scanners, radio therapy and chemo suites, not to mention top notch consultants and their teams.
Mulbarton and other wards could offer Service Users feedback along the lines of "In January you said......................... This is what we have done about it." This could be prominently displayed in each ward to great benefit.
Anything else?
I would definitely recommend the cancer treatments available at this hospital to others.
"The quality of evidence based but compassionate..."
