"Always feel worse after contact"

About: The Lawson Practice

A new booking system has been implemented which is supposed to make getting an appointment easier but in fact it has just made it harder. You can no longer book in-person appointments online and your doctor doesn’t seem to be able to make advance bookings when a treatment requires frequent check-ups. You have to go through a phone conversation before being seen and you can only be seen on the same day which means you have to set a whole day aside. In theory you can book phone calls online the day before after 7 or 8 pm but I have never experienced more than one option being available, so instead I have to call in at 8 am. This system does not take into consideration patients with social anxiety, phone phobia, unusual sleeping patterns and limited access to good phone connection.

I have rarely felt like the doctors were interested in me. They often come off as arrogant and judgemental and the receptionists are often in a bad mood. I always feel worse about myself after a visit or phone call with the Lawson practice.

So sorry to hear you feel like this and that you always feel worse after contact. You cannot book face-to-face on line but you can book a telephone consultation and the doctor will see you the same day that they talk to you if you need to be seen. The doctors can arrange to see you again if they think it is necessary. We are improving capacity and although things have been difficult for patients and we are sorry about that, we think the system is beginning to work better now and hopefully in the next few months will continue to improve. We are concerned that the practice is making you feel worse after contact. It might be helpful for you to come and discuss with someone at the practice you get on with so that we can discuss what is going wrong for you.
