"Hearing Aids"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I had a hearing test at QA hospital at the beginning of June and told I need two hearing aids. I was advised I would be contacted in the next few months to be fitted and was pleased when I received a letter within a month to visit Highlands Road Fareham audiology department. I took it this was to sort out my new hearing aids, but no there had been a mix up and I was booked in for another hearing test. This was early July and as I hadn’t heard anything since I called QA hospital in the middle of September for an update. I was advised I was on a waiting list, but there are people that have been on the list since January. The receptionist explained the hospital had staff shortages in the department and I would be contacted when an appointment becomes available, but she didn't know when this would be. This is very concerning because I’m struggling without the hearing aids. It would help if the hospital could give patients an estimate of how long they will have to wait, which will hopefully not be 9 months!
