"Arrogant GPs"

About: Low Moor Surgery

I made an appointment to see a GP due to having a suspected gout attack . I saw a GP who was very uninterested and after ten minutes told me he could give me a steroid injection but I needed to make another appointment. I made a new appointment for the following Friday only to receive a phone call that morning saying the GP was off ill and no other GP could give these kind of injections. They made me a new appointment for the following Monday evening at 6pm. I eventually saw a GP around 6.45pm only to be greeted by the most ignorant man I have ever met . He continually talked down to me and told me under no circumstances he would be giving me an injection and that he would be examining me to try and find out the problem . I could barely walk and the pain was ridiculous. He told me he would refer me to a NHS specialist but it would take time . His attitude throughout the appointment was appalling. I came out in disbelief . The morning after I contacted the Yorkshire Clinic and I got an appointment to see a specialist at a high cost to myself on the proviso that I got a referral from my GP . I spoke to the receptionist at Low Moor and within a minute the GP rang me back desperately trying to get me to reconsider going private . To cut a long story short a practice administrator typed up the referral and I attended Yorkshire Clinic she examined me and gave me the injection. This was an expensive option but I have had no problems since. I attended again recently regarding 2 separate issues and saw another male GP and his attitude was exactly the same. I have seen 1 female GP in the past who couldn`t have been more helpful but the other 2 leave a lot to be desired. I am in the process of finding a new practice.

We are sorry to hear you felt the treatment you received was substandard. it is never the practice intention to make any patient uncomfortable or to feel their complaint is trivial.

Referrals to NHS clinics can take some time, because of the number of patients being put through the system, and it is often substantially quicker to be seen by going down the private route. Whilst this can be the expensive option, patient are seen much more quickly, as you have experienced.

Please do feel free to contact the Practice Management team to discuss your issues as you feel appropriate.
