I strongly would not recommend this rheumatology dept. (One Consultant in particular) The Consultant that I saw was extremely rude and arrogant. After struggling for over 2 years with life changing symptoms, my initial greeting from Consultant - “Hi, I’ve seen you before. And you’ve seen one of my colleagues in Brighton. You believe you have ******, we don’t”
The Consultant didn’t even ask my symptoms or how I had been since I last saw him. He had clearly already made up his mind before I had even opened my mouth. When I queried this with him, his nurse turned to me and said ‘don’t be rude, he knows what he’s talking about Love”. I am appalled that the NHS would employ people with such poor communication skills. To not be listened to, never mind heard is just plain disrespectful. For someone who has been in chronic pain for such a long time, to be faced with that situation was soul destroying. I ended up having to walk out of the appointment. I am now awaiting another Rheumatology apt elsewhere - All I hope for next time is to just be listened to and taken seriously. Surly that’s not too much to ask.
"rude, obnoxious and did not listen."
