What I liked
6th December 2011
All I can say is that I had superb service from the Lister Hospital! From being shown around the maternity unit before the birth to the actual day.
On arrival the staff were friendly helpful and positive. I was taken to the midwifery led unit to have a water birth. The room was immaculately clean big and spacious. I was initially dealt with by a lovely lady who got me started with a TEN's machine, as I had not bought one myself and also given gas and air. She had to go as she was at the end of her shift and we I was then introduced to two members of staff who took over and they were both amazing. Both ladies were calm and positive and got me through. I had told my husband months before the birth that I did not want a water birth and he eventually talked me round...I hate to say this but he was right! It is the best environment to have your baby if you can do it, and have had no complications through out your pregnancy. They dimmed the lights in the room and the pool was lit around the bottom with lights, which gave you a real calming effect.
From the minute I arrived around 4.30 pm until the moment my daughter was born at 22.44 pm they were brilliant. I can not give them enough praise! you hear a lot of horror stories these days about child birth and the service that people were provided with, but all I can say is I left with was a positive experience and although my god it hurt I would most certainly be coming back to Lister to have my next baby in the future!
Thank you once again to all the people involved in my daughters birth and also a big thank you for the tea and toast after the birth and the next morning!
