A couple of days after returning from holiday I was concerned about a pain and swelling in my leg. I contacted the surgery at 1.40pm and was given an appointment at 2.30pm with the advance nurse practitioner. She shared my concerns and arranged a hospital appointment for 3pm. By 4.30 that afternoon I had been scanned, had my diagnosis and treatment explained by a doctor and nurse, issued with a prescription and sat at home reflecting on the seriousness and potential implications of the problem as well as the speed and efficiency of those at the practice and at the general hospital who had seen and helped me.
It did not end there as the ANP proactively contacted me on receiving the hospital notes and arranged for me to return to the surgery to be seen by a colleague to arrange further treatment and care.
I trust it is very clear how impressed and thankful for the care I have and continue to receive.
