"Accessing family support - very helpful & supportive"

About: One Recovery Bucks

(as a service user),

After 8 years of tremendous stress within the family (Dealing with my son a drug user) I reached crisis point and realised that we as a family needed support - me in particular.

I contacted One Recovery by email expressing concern for the well-being of my family.

After contacting One Recovery by email, I received a phone call asking me to meet with a family support worker. My initial meeting was very emotional as I poured out my family story. Lucy listened carefully and asked pertinent questions which allowed me to reflect on what had been happening over the past 8 years. We set a plan to help me move forward and at the following meeting I was able to report back on the steps I had taken. Again, Lucy listened and asked further questions which allowed me to consider my behaviour within the family. Lots of reading material was offered along with web sites to visit and advised about group meetings.

I found the service very helpful and supportive and would recommend it to other families going through a similar situation.
