"The Out of Hours Walk in Surgery"

About: Sleaford Medical Group

I feel it is necessary to leave this review, just to let the public know how the out of hours service at S.M.G. actually doesn't offer a 6.30 - 8 pm walk-in service

Today, while at work. I became away of an insect bite that had become noticeably inflamed and had started to feel warm to the touch. With the knowledge that we have an Out of Hour surgery that opens between 6.30 until 8 pm also the fact I am unable to attend a daytime appointment as I am already at work, I decided this to be the best option to see a doctor, if only it was that easy.

After waiting to be seen by the receptionist, and explaining the problem (time 7.05pm )

you would expect to be offered an appointment but unfortunately not.

I was told that the doctor on duty had closed the surgery to any further patients as the surgery was full to capacity ( I counted 8 patients waiting to be seen) I explained that 111 had suggested that this was where I should come but the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders.

Next to me was a mother with a very young baby, she explained her baby was running a temperature and 111 had also advised her to seek medical attention from S.M.G. walk-in surgery, she was also told the surgery was full.

Sleaford Medical Group Do Not call yourselves a walk in out of hours surgery when clearly you are not.

Your opening times clearly states 6.30 until 8 pm you stopped this service today at 7.05pm. You should accept all patients up until 8pm especially young babies and patients being referred to you by 111, not panic because you see the surgery full and you want to go home by 8pm.

Can you explain why?
