"patients confidential information"

About: The Khattak Memorial Surgery

disgusted!!!

my confidential information has been given out to my family re. my blood results and appointment without having my consent or next of kin on my records.

than later giving out my prescription to my nephew (who is under 16 years of age) even though i had told the receptionist i myself will pick it up on my next appt' again without my consent!!!!

spoke to the the practice manager and she couldn't help just said 'the script was collected by my nephew,' this wouldn't have been possible if the information wasn't given out

honestly this needs to be looked into. i have never given my medical history to my family as i like to keep it confidential and i believe i have the right to

Thanks to the irresponsible staff there my confidential information has been leaked!!!!

The surgery does all it can to provide our patients with the best service possible. Unfortunately this does not always work out. A naive but well-meaning receptionist tried to contact you and in her eagerness to help she called you at home and when you were not available she advised a member of the family - without giving details that test results and a script was ready for your collection. She never revealed any other details. The practice apologises for this error. All staff have been reminded about their duty of confidentiality and in future if the surgery cannot get hold of any patient we will leave a message on an answer phone and request the patient contacts us.

With regards to your nephew collecting the prescription, his mother was in reception and instructed him to collect this from the receptionist. We do not give out prescriptions to any minors without an adult present.

The practice manager had also spoken to you and had assured you she would look into the issues and take any necessary action and update you once she had spoken to the staff concerned. The practice manager had called you within 36 hours of initially speaking to you regarding both matters and updated you on the action she had taken.

Please contact the practice manager directly if you need to discuss anything further.
