"timing and doctors!!!!"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / General surgery

I was taken in on the Friday with abdominal pains. I was treated fairly and kindly by all the staff in A&E however I know that it is not the hospitals fault but it is very understaffed in the emergency department which is a big shame if every other hospital is sending there patients there.

I was moved to 3 different wards, I had 2 x-rays, 1 ultrasound of which they found nothing. I then had a mri scan of which it took 2 days to be looked at and the doctor to come and speak to me about the findings. the nurses had to keep chasing up the doctor to find out what was happening.

at first I was given misleading information on my health I was told I would probably have to have an operation, but was then later told I could go home and if the same thing happened again id have to go back. so I spent a week in hospital for them to turn round and send me home anyway with no diagnosis, no plan of action and no follow up. so I now I just have to live in fear of whether the same thing is going to happen again.

however despite all of this, I do know that the hospital is very understaffed and the staff they do have i.e. the ward nurses, they were amazing, if it wasn't for them my stay would have been a very stressful time. the housekeepers were brilliant, very friendly.

I just wish they wouldn't keep cutting from there nhs when people are in serious need of it.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I can fully appreciate how frustrated you have been left feeling due to staff shortages.

Regrettably there is a national shortage of nurses which has had a negative impact on the NHS.

However, I am pleased to read that despite staff shortages staff continued to provide you with a high standard of care and treatment.

Thank you again and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
