"Usually friendly but really struggling to cope..."

About: St Thomas Medical Group

I dread booking an appointment for both myself and my 2 year old son because the wait times are excruciating. It wouldn't be so bad if the receptionist gave a more realistic waiting time, however, they usually say it's running '10-15 mins behind', which really means 30-45 mins. If it's an appointment for my son, it's hard work keeping him entertained (with the minimal toys you have) when there's a delay of over half an hour (which is not uncommon), and if it's an appointment for myself, the delays cause issues with my working life, as a routine hour away from the desk can easily and usually turn into a couple hours by the time I'm seen and travel back to work. The whole appointment process needs to be looked at as it's coming to a point I'd rather suffer with a health issue over booking a Drs appointment.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have experienced an increased waiting time for appointments. It is important that all patients get the opportunity to discuss their heath issues with their GP, this means at times our GPs do overrun on their surgeries. Our Gps do try to manage this, but can only control this up to a point. I will ensure that your feedback is given at our next staff meeting.
